Autumn Tour 2009
Namibia
The Forty Club will be going on tour this autumn. The tour is to Namibia in the months of September and October and, whilst planning is still in progress, is expected to include 9 cricket matches.
The departure date is the 16th September with a flight to Windhoek. Thereafter, under the guiding hand of the local Springbok Atlas agents, and the Ron Hart company, there are 9 matches planned, including a match against an U19 Namibia XI, some sight seeing, some safari trips and plenty of time to chill out. The aim is to have 18 – 20 cricketers in a party of 40 playing matches against sides with the wonderful names of Outjo, Swakopmund, Walvis Bay, Windhoek Nightwatchmen and Oshakati.
This is breaking new ground for the Forty Club but without changing the basic objective of taking our cricket to others, and to encourage the game.
We will be warm, we will be comfortable and we will be careful. Let the cricket do the talking!
The party will return to England on the 7th October – and still be in time for the Forty Club Annual Dinner!
If you would like to join the party, please tell Peter Robinson and send him a deposit cheque for £150 (made payable to 'The Forty Club') to the address below. The final tour price is expected to be about £2000 and all efforts will be made to keep it down to that level and hopefully less. In these troubled times prices can fluctuate but Peter Robinson and Ron Hart well understand the priorities of XL members and the need to keep a cap on costs.
