King's School, Chester v NW

Wed 19th April 2017 at 11.30
School 206 for 2: XL 107 for 7.
Played at King's School, Chester, CH4 7QL

Match Report

XL in their opening game asked the School to bat first and watched them p[rogress to a steady score when their second wicket fell at 55. There then followed an excellent partnership between M Thompson and S Seithi, before the former reached a well deserved century and eventually declared after 49 overs on 206.

The Club made a very tentative start and lost wickets at regular intervals leaving them on 64-6. A stubborn partnership between Adam Syddall and the skipper Keith Roscoe steadied the ship and eventually the Club were able to bat out time mindful of the fact that they only had 10 men due to a late cry-off.

An excellent days cricket had prevailed and thanks to the school and all concerned for their very impressive hospitality throughout the day.

The Club were happy to come  out of the game with a hard fought draw.
