We are taking a bit of a battering from some very talented East of Scotland schoolboys. However yesterday was very enjoyable despite 2 snow showers. Merchiston motored off to a good start passing the century after only 9 overs. Euan Sheridan and Raj Waruna pulled them back a bit and after their openers went we went through the order quite well……including 2 run outs.
Merchiston finished on 239 for 8 (the first team cricket captain……who of course is also first team rugby captain and deputy head boy scored a ton). Forty club battled well in the field and the cold.
Whilst not matching them exactly we also got away to a good start. Luss Farndale played imperiously off back foot and was close to his half century when he was dismissed. He was well supported by Euan Sheridan . Unfortunately when the spinners came on the rate slowed and we started losing wickets. The club were 129 for 8 at the end. Jim Inglis seeing out the final over
