XL batted first and they started with an excellent opening partnership between Phil Deakin and Danny Welbourne of in excess of 200 before both men retired out. This was the first time in NW district memory that we had two centurions who eventually both retired out.
XL completed their innings with a fine knock from guest player Ernest Kemm. The school’s bowling got a little wayward in the latter stages and the Club comfortably saw out their 40 overs.
The School began their reply and although A Shah batted excellently for his 66, the rest of the school’s batting was unable to get on top of the XL bowling and except for a late flurry from D Dabir who helped himself to an unbeaten 38, the innings concluded on 150 after 31 overs.
A good win for the club and we thank the school for their excellent hospitality during our visit.
However our concluding memory must be the opening partnership which must be close to some kind of record.
