The Quadrangular Tournament 2018

The Forty Club team failed to bring home any of the silver from this year’s QT.  They won 2 and lost one of the 45 over matches, and achieved similar results in the 20 over competition.  It has been quite a tough week in Koege Kricket Klub, Denmark, playing on a synthetic surface with a rock hard outfield and in some seriously hot weather and as the week went on, the conditions took their toll ! There were some excellent performances however – Jon Thornton with 90 in the main match against Spain, and Rob Nelson taking 5 for 21 in the same match.  Ash Mohammed hitting a magnificent 138 against Dansk XL and enjoying an opening stand of 182 with Jon Thornton [79].  Jon was again top-scorer with 44 in the match we lost against SGS Holland.

In the main 45 over competition, Jon Thornton was the leading scorer [3 matches, 3 innings, 0 not out, 213 runs with an average of 71] and Rob Nelson the leading wicket-taker [3 matches, 20 overs, 1 maiden, 122 runs conceded, 7 wickets, an average of 17.43 and an economy rate of 6.10]; so many congratulations to both of them.

Special mention should be made of Amir Raza, an XL overseas member from Canada who flew over for the tournament and played in all three matches, scoring a total of 58 runs and bowling 18 overs.

Our thanks to Jan Rasmussen and his team of helpers who organised such a successful week and our congratulations to Cricket Espana for winning the 45 over competition.
